Look close, think far
The Ackland is one of those gems of a museum - once through the door you’re in another world. It has a rich and diverse collection and a pioneering education programme which reaches over 10,000 students at the University of North Carolina. Despite it’s central location between the campus and Chapel Hill community, their new Director was asking why the Ackland was not engaging more audiences?
It was time to reset the ambition of the museum. Working with the whole team, the process delivered a compelling, distinctive brand strategy with a core idea at its heart - look close, think far. The Ackland is using the brand strategy to inform their programme and communications and is currently developing a new visual identity and planning a new building. With renewed momentum they are now building their relevance and visibility with more audiences, artists, partners, students and donors.
